Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer in Rhubarb Review (My Lip Balm)

Burt's Bees Lip balm

100% natural

I've said back in my old posts about my longing for lip balm. I've been suffering from daily chapped lips even with enough consumption of water. During the days that I am too busy and unintentionaly missed the minimum required for hydration, the crack lips show instantly that sometimes followed by uncomfortable bleeding. With dead skin cells on lips, it will not provide a good canvas for lipstick application.

Instead of buying a lip balm in the nearest store, I kept myself from spending too much of “wants”. Besides the Sample Room is enough as a treat for myself. I just hope that the right product will get in stock soon. I remember I've read somewhere about being a public servant “Live with your means!” Not sure if that's mandatory but it sucks right? :D I'm not even buying dresses for half a year or more than that. Kuripot lang. When will I get rich ba? I've been thinking of many way even made initial steps yet getting into that stable financial status is really hard. Age expires soon while dreams waits to be fulfilled. How fulfilling could it be to make our family happy, pamper them with the things money can buy and have them tour in best places in our country or around the world while they still have the energy?

Nichido Matte Lipstick Pink Lush Review

Nichido Matte Lipstick Pink Lush Review

The pink lush is a very attractive shade. Little did I know that this isn't the lipstick for me. Even though some say I’m fair, I am warm toned. Maybe that's the reason why I don't believe when they say “Ang puti mo...” since it only gets true when I am under the sunlight. But when indoors, that glowing and radiant skin ends.

This could be the manufacturing date. I really prefer lipstick that indicates their ingredients.

Sansan Hydrating Color Dew Lipstick Review

Since I lost my Sophie Lipstick [Link Here], I decided to buy Sansan lipstick right away. It will took me more than a week if I ordered another Sophie and I can't bear to wait that long. That's because I usually just own 1 lipstick and don’t understand why I should stock some. I call it, being practical.

In HBC here, you won’t find samples and testers. Sometimes I wonder if they’re near bankruptcy for their store gets smaller with time. And so, I didn’t bother myself from asking the colors when I can perchance find it over the internet. I realized how wrong I am here. I should have asked the staff.

Hydrating Color Dew Lipstick 01

Over the net, I saw “Shimmer 01”. Next, I went to HBC and grab the lipstick without opening it, reach the counter and paid it. I was dismayed when I saw the color for the first time. RED. I relied with the number “01”. I didn’t know that there is a “Hydrating Color Dew” set which is a different set from “Shimmer” and maybe the regular one. Too bad the color and container is the same.

Packaging
The tube is heavy as if it’s made of metal. It looks elegant to me except that I didn’t like the tip of the lipstick; the way the angle made is too pointed.

Lipstick
There is no doubt it smells cocoa. It moisturizing on my lips and feels buttery when applied. It probably lasts for 2 hours, other than that you can feel when it’s no longer there.  It doesn’t survive a meal and I’m not actually comfortable eating with wet lips.

Perhaps it’s a sheer lipstick, it is made of partial tint that still deliver a red tone and shine to the lips. I’m still undecided whether I like or hate it. I like the way it moisturizes my lips but I have a lip gloss so I don’t really need that. Since the tint is not opaque, I can’t use it as a blush for my cheeks. Yes, I usually use a lipstick as a blush.

I believe this kind of lipstick is good enough for those who want just a minimal effect. I know some conservative people who would prefer a simple look. It is comfortable to wear during the day but will not do in cocktail hours.

My look
This lipstick doesn’t give a great contrast on my face. I still look plain, sometimes lifeless but much better than not wearing one. Nothing much has changed when I build it up. With proper lighting or powder on my face, it looks good on me. I believe it’s RED. But not the red I find objectionable. Red gives me an aura of sadness and boredom, too serious for my age. I’m not fond of Red but the sheen in this Sansan lipstick made it look wearable and fit enough with my age and face. I don’t like Red matte lipstick mostly because it doesn’t match me. This is not matte.

Repurchase?
NO. I might try a different shade until I find the shade for me and with lots of different brands there, why would I stay in one brand?

I believe a pink one will give me a more feminine look and will make me younger; a lady in bliss, simple, sweet and graceful. However, I felt I’m too trying hard with the past pink lipstick I had.

Sophie Martin Summer Pink Lipstick

My sophie lipstick came right after my old lipstick got fully exhausted. It took me a rough estimate of 2 weeks before I got it from the reseller. The saleslady keep on telling me that I’ll have it the other day. Some tale? I almost gave up checking it out.

I got Summer Pink for 85pesos. They were uncertain how to price it since the brochure got lost. They told me that I can avail a 25% discount if I am a member so they gave me a form of Personal Collection to fill. I am reluctant to join since I am oblivious from the pros and cons that comes with it. The PC form alone will give you discounts to all brands they’re part of like avon, sophie and etc. I wonder why…

Smell
It has a mild smell like the powdered milk used by infants

When I looked closely, I saw tiny glittery stuff that I doubt would be obvious once worn. The lipstick is very hard to apply on the lips since it isn’t creamy. It’s very drying that I wanted to put another stuff to moisten my lips but was afraid of ruining the color.

I wanted to even it out but unfortunately, I got dull lips like a smoker. It’s even a bit grayish. Someone even said that I look ill, so I really have to put something on my lips especially if I’m on work. I even wonder if I need a lip concealer or should I bleach or scrub my lips. I still have a lot to know about girl stuff.

I believe summer pink shade doesn’t compliment me well. I might look fair sometimes, but I believe I am warm toned. I got a light yellowish type of skin, not like those of American or Korean type of skin. I even don’t know if it’s just the Spanish blood being dominant or this is really the Filipino skin that I have. This shade will only look good to me once I am outside in a sunny day because that is when I will have the illusion of being cool toned.

Verdict.
This shade doesn’t suit those who have a yellowish complexion. It doesn’t look good to me too since I don’t have a radiant and healthy looking skin. A matte lipstick will look good for a dewy skin while shiny lipstick will look good to a powder finished face.  My dark circles also messed with my face, maybe I need to conceal it so that the focus will be diverted to my eyes .

My slightly gray lips prevented, though slightly, the supposedly bright look of this lipstick on the lips.

I like the shade but it’s not for me. :(

Update: 10-24-13

Though it's not an everyday lipstick, it never became a waste. I mix it up with a darker shade lip gloss. I realized I’m better with gloss than matte alone.
