What's up? Blog update

I still peek in my blog even if I'm currently not posting but I stopped reading other people's blogs. So it means I'm also currently not updated in blogosphere. I still observe and reply to some comments. I'm just lurking behind. Blogging is one of the things that I still see myself doing continuously in the future. I've been writing personal journal since my teenage years so I know that this therapeutic habit is something I will not give up easily. I feel more happy and comfortable in writing personal stuff but I'm afraid to pass negativity. You know, blue days. The more I ignore and don't acknowledge it, the longer it stays. I chose silence than make you feel sad knowing that sadness can be contagious.

I remember I felt depressed when I saw a break up post of a blogger I follow before. I was sad previously and became sadder after reading that. But even if she was not yet telling her problem, I noticed how she became less lively and felt the changed of her aura compared years ago. She became fat too and she procrastinates in giving the prices of her monthly best commenter. I don't want you to feel what I felt before that's why I've been torn between writing or waiting and keeping it to myself.

But I want you to understand that I'm not writing to entertain you guys. Like what I've said, I'm writing for myself and writing for some people who needs information of a certain product, not necessarily a beauty product. I'm afraid that I might not meet your expectations but I'm still thankful to those who still comes back.

Anyways, I want to share what's currently happening to my blog: SOMEONE IS ATTACKING MY BLOG!

If you're wondering, I'm an Infotech graduate. I'm aware of some technical stuff and what's happening behind the scenes. However, my current work is not related to I.T. so I'll admit I'm not that good anymore.

I've made a not so good review about a certain product in an honest and kind tone. Surprisingly, my review of that product was almost in the top search result of Google. Since then, I've noticed that my blog receives illegal referrals, talk about obscene websites linking to my blog. I noticed how the rank slowly dropped but it's still in the first page. The bad referral happens almost everyday. Next, I've noticed that I'm receiving a lot of spam comments from new and suspicious account but I don't approve it because I'm not that stupid. I wonder what the attacker's next plan is. Unfortunately, the attacker could be a Filipino too because there's actually a profession and community that does that and it's related to I.T.

Have you experienced that kind of problem too? How did you deal with that? I want to hear your experience and how you cope up with that. You can share it below or you can email me.

  1. I've been in blogging hiatus for a month or two. In the past months, I've been busy with work, reason why I can't do some blog post though there were few adpost. I'm just starting to post regularly again this January and heck would you believe, there were 53k unapproved comments in my dashboard. They are mostly spam which are quite annoying coz I have to delete them one by one or by 20's. I don't see anything wrong with honest product reviews unless the PR indicated that you have to write only the good. I just hope your blog attacker gets tired of tearing you down.

    1. Wow that's a lot, 53k. I wonder who did that to you. Those spammy comments may be computer generated but it still won't work without some human brain behind. I haven't experienced a PR who wants me to only write good things, but the product from the post I've made was not even from PR.

  3. Wow. I am surprised that these things actually happen. Sana it stops soon. Is there a way to find out who's doing it so you can report it or something?

    1. It's not that easy, it's very complicated. You need to be techy enough or knows someone whose expert in this field.

  4. We've all been attacked one way or another. Some people just can't help but be mean to their fellow bloggers instead of supporting them. I've received really bad comments in the past and it's definitely disappointing. We're all in the same industry and yet... here we are attacking each other.

  5. that's freaky and just plain wrong. I think they just want to drag down the ranking of your post, if we track the IP of your attacker, he might be the one responsible for any of the reviews after yours.

  6. Getting weird referrals are quite normal? I don't know because I get that too! So I thought everyone else most probably get them and don't think too much to try to stop them... because I don't know how to!

    1. I don't think it's normal especially if it's not happening before and if the level of unusual activity increases. That's why it's important to not just write articles but to also observe reports and statistics of your blog.

  7. I lie low for awhile in blogging for 3 months, but I think if you really love blogging and your passion is writing--you really go back there...that is why I am back again!

  8. I think its called negative SEO or something. They comment on lewd sites and put your blog links. I guess there should be more safeguards on this. Anyway, I like you concept on writing for yourself. I also maintain a personal approach on my site.

    1. That would be very scary. That's why it's important to do positive SEO too.

  9. what do you mean by illegal or bad referral? like hotlinking to spammy websites in your comment board? I get that many times too, but it's mostly on weight loss fad products.... don't think it's a malicious attack, but just those desperate individuals just going to those blog that shows up in page 1 of their google search to leave hotlinks?

    1. If you're using blogger, you will see referrals in your dashboard. It's the sites that reffers your blog. If there's a hyperlink of my blog to other sites, that "other sites" is referring me.

Imagine those desperate individuals messing with your blog by putting your link to different websites such as porn sites etc.

  10. That's really scary :( I haven't experienced that yet, although I've been hacked 3 times before. T_T After that, I changed my hosting site and everything is back to normal.

  12. It's so sad if it's another Filipino. Crab mentality will lead us nowhere. I guess that's the 'hazard' of blogging. Trolls, spammers are always ready for the attack. It's suspicious though that this happened after that review. Some people just can't take criticism or honest opinions. What can I say? Keep calm and blog on. :)

I hope they would stop soon though.
