My Experience with New Sample Room VIP Subscription + gift box

Vip packages with vip gift

I will admit I was discouraged when Sample Room increased their VIP subscription fee. It's like paying P100 for a free gift and an excuse to increase their fee. But change is expected for a growing institution and the gift is better than nothing at all. The best time to subscribe for VIP is when being a regular member is not enough and the free samples are really hard to resist. When Belo Sunexpert line arrived, I decided it's time to subscribe for VIP again. Why not when there's Burt's Bees products too.

The Initiation

I received a notice of shipment in my email. It didn't indicate that it's for VIP gift box so I thought it was meant for my 1st order even if I didn't send my payment information yet (maybe it's not needed to send it at all). This is where the confusion started.

Since I ordered another sample product (2nd order) again, I am expecting 3 packages but only 2 arrived (the VIP gift box and 1 package). Inside that 1 package is the 1st order and the 2nd order. They were in the same plastic. That means the 1st order arrived late. There I realized that payment information should by all means be sent and should be ASAP.

What I was wondering was, why should it be in the same plastic? So I ended up having 1 invoice for the 2 orders. Maybe they have forgotten to include the other invoice meant for my other order. If they were trying to save resources, they should have at least include the other invoice :(.

Receiving the VIP Gift Box

Since I only received 2 package, I was wondering if the 1st order is in the gift box too. How could all those products (including the gift items) fit in a small box? It's like I don't want to see what's inside anymore :D

I would like to have the Epsom salt because I need its health benefits. What I've got is still a product from Zenutrients. It's just okay since I really like organic products! It was actually very funny since I badly need a bug repellant due to farm insects attacking me lately. It's so timely that the universe could have heard my thought.

The mystery box includes an eco-bag, 2 pair of contact lens and a bug repellant spray. Thumbs up for the gift box since it's eco-friendly, adorns any cabinet and a reminder of a good organization habit.

VIP Tips and Lesson Learned

  1. Saving shipping fee doesn't apply here because it doesn't work that way. Chances are you will miss the product you really want while you wait for the approval of your review. Focus more on the product that you want instead of getting the most from P100 or P140 shipping fee.
  2. The number of sample you can acquire throughout the whole 2 months depends on the total worth of the entire samples you order. It's like how fair policy works even if the 1000 points are said to be recyclable.
  3. You can use your regular points, converted to peso, to minimize payment for the VIP subscription.
  4. Remember that there's a lot of member in Sample Room and it's getting bigger. Demand becomes higher too.

Dealing with 100 points
  • Before, you can still have 3 products in 100 points. Now, you're lucky if you can avail 2 products using your meager points.
  • You might need at least 120 points to have 2 products. Better subscribe for VIP even just for once.
  • Your chance of having a decent selection is twice per month only.
  • Selections are becoming more limited.
  • This is where maximizing your shipping fee is applied so you could also earn more points from your reviews.

It's no use if the costs of the products you order is almost the same with buying the products in the real store and the same applies if you are a VIP member but you can't get the sample you want. Sample Room lets you pick the products you want and ignore the rest but there are still pros and cons that comes with it. What are your reasons? Are you willing to pay around 2k for your whole 2 months transaction? Will it benefit your health or skin condition in return?  Your answer will determine if subscribing to VIP is worth it! Sample Room gives you a freedom you can't find with other sampling site and the opportunity to get the products you only want and need. However, you are likely to get cosmetic products in subscription boxes.

Why do you want sample products? Do you think that there's a return of investment in your part?

  1. I ordered once at Sample Room and I love their idea of choosing the products that we like to try. I am also thinking of getting their VIP and still undecided :/

    Thanks for sharing your experience.

    1. Just try VIP once for the sake of trying ^_^ But it's still best to subscribe if you need the sample they're currently releasing.

  2. I've heard of Sample Room but I have not really got something from them. I might just head over to their site to sign up.

    1. I've recently just ordered 1 box from BDJ and paid it last february, but mine will be given on May :( BDJ for me is just okay, don't you like their products? For me it's okay compared to other subscription boxes.

  5. I have tried BDJ before and I'm okay with what I got. But, I haven't tried getting any items from Sample Room yet since the products that I want are always out of stocks.

    1. Because Sample Room only has stocks for new products. It works differently from BDJ. Forget about the old products, only few brands restocks like Celeteque and Belo.

  6. Is 2000 points is more beneficial than 1000 points? For availing VIP? S it worth it? Thanks!

    1. And to add with my comment below pala, I've noticed that in my 1k subscription, I still was not able to get most of the vip samples. The approval of reviews took longer days na. I was just able to get "a lot" of ordinary samples (lower points). So if you want to get more of the vip products, the 2k is for you.

    1. Hello Jocelyn! I haven't tried subscribing in 2000 points so I can't tell the difference. Perhaps it will be worth it if you want something badly in their "available" samples esp when a single one requires a whooping 900 worth of points. Remember that there's no assurance that their will be cooler stuffs in the future so just stick with what is "currently available" and ask yourself if those current stocks is worth the 2000 points. Do you want to get all of those cool stuff now and asap? Do you want "more freedom" to avail the possible vip stuff that might pop within the span of 2 months? If yes, then try the 2k na ^_^
